$20 HOMEMADE CRYSTAL
I tell you what - you can literally learn how to do anything (anything you hear me), on YouTube. Over the Christmas holiday, my sister and I decided to make our own crystals by following this super easy video created by one of our favorite YouTuber's, Kiva Brent. We've been hearing that you can buy "inexpensive" (around $60+) decorative crystals at Home Goods, but once I found out that you could make your own for $20 - I had to give it a try. If you go into any crystal shop, you will pay well over a few hundred dollars (or more) for the size we wanted, and neither of us were interested in doing that. So while we were highly skeptical that this DIY project would work, much to our surprise....IT WORKED!!!
Materials:
Glass Jar (or a large bucket, which we used)
Borax: https://go.magik.ly/ml/yv40/
Pipe Cleaners: https://amzn.to/3hhkeBq (we used 50 pipe cleaners each for the size shown below, about 8 inches long. Of course you can use as many as you would like)
Wooden Dowel: https://go.magik.ly/ml/yv4c/
Directions:
I highly suggest that you watch Kiva's video as she gives a very easy, step-by-step tutorial on how to create these.
Once you finish with all of the steps, and you take your crystal out of the borax solution, it will look just like what is shown above. The pipe cleaner that was tied around the wooden dowel will be still attached to the crystal but it can be easily cut off using regular scissors. And just like that, you have a cheap and easy crystal to style in your home.
It looks real, right? We couldn't believe when we woke up the next morning how good they looked. I definitely plan to make another (even bigger) one - using maybe a full 100 or even 200 pipe cleaners. I promise this is the easiest DIY project and I hope you give it a try.
