A THRIFTED VIRTUAL BRUNCH TABLESCAPE

Yesterday morning I attended a virtual brunch with some ladies that I follow on Instagram and instead of eating cereal on the couch with my computer propped up on the coffee table, I decided to go all out, get dressed, and create a table setting using some of my favorite thrifted finds.

Every single thing that you see on this table (minus the napkin that was hand-painted by me and will be available in the shop very soon) and the champagne of course, was thrifted. It’s taken me years to collect these pieces. I don’t want you to think that I went out one day and found everything nicely packaged for me. I pick up something here, and few months later a couple of plate there, and because my color palate is always in the black, white, creams, gold/brass, anything that I pick up will always go with the collection.

For the brunch menu, I decided to make blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon and fresh strawberries. Oh and lets not forget about the mimosa. I’ve been saving this bottle of Veuve Clicquot for “a special occasion” but I never knew what that special occasion was going to be. I thought maybe when I have overnight guests I could pull it out for morning mimosas - or maybe if I land a really big client or event it could be a way to celebrate. But with this virus, if I haven’t learned anything else, I’ve learned that tomorrow isn’t promised so I decided to celebrate now. Celebrating that I’m currently healthy after being so sick for most of the first quarter of the year. Celebrating that my day job allows me to work from home and I’m still getting a steady paycheck. Celebrating that I have a refrigerator and pantry full of food and all of the essentials I need to get through this time. Celebrating that I have passions and hobbies to keep me busy. Celebrating that I have amazing friends and family that have gotten me through being quarantined alone. Celebrating that for now the virus hasn’t touched anyone that I directly know. So for that - I popped open the champagne!

The virtual brunch was really fun - such a great idea! Over 1,000 women signed up and it was great to connect with so many like-minded creatives. I even got a quick shout out for my tablescape because they saw it on IG after I used their hashtag #DJMVirtualBrunch. If you want to check out some of the other ladies tablescapes and brunch items, just search for that hashtag on IG. I can’t wait to do it again!

I hope you enjoyed this post and are keeping safe out there. I’m sending a special shout out to all the peeps that are quarantined alone out there. It’s not easy, but thank God for technology. It doesn’t replace a real hug, but it’s getting me through. Love you guys!
